Summer Newletter

Dear Friend,

It has been such a very dry and hot summer, that we have paused abit with our Events during the holiday season. Our next fun event will be onFriday, the 9^th October the Tapas and Quiz Evening at the VillageHall in Brockhampton. (Details on our homepage). It was such an enjoyable Quiz night,which Quentin Letts mastered so superbly, and which Liz Morris did the cateringfor, so we decided to do a similar event again this October.  

Our helpers in the garden made sure that all the sponsored plantssurvived the drought, and we can all be very proud of the look of our memorialgarden surrounding the Church. A start has also been made on the crumblingstone wall surrounding the churchyard, which is going to be a very long job,but which will make such a huge difference to the whole appearance of ourChurch.

Inside the Church some very talented volunteers decorated it mostbeautifully for a wedding, and it almost wants you to get married again!!  - I am enclosing a few photos of it for you.

Alongside the new catering cupboard, drains and pipes, theuncovered gravestones, the cleaning rota, the flower rota, and the children’senthusiasm for our Ziggisaurus, I want to thank you — our lovely community ofFriends — for creating such a warm, helpful, and loving atmosphere around ourChurch.

April Newsletter 2026

Dear Friend (of How Caple Church and of me and of our lovely little community!),

It is such a wonderful day here in How Caple Churchyard, that I must just send you a few photographs to remind you what you are missing.

The big Amelanchier trees are almost over, and the new ones are just beginning to flower. The Spring bulbs have been stunning and we thank all of you who have donated us bulbs. We have discovered a few more hitherto unknown graves and are thrilled to see some with new flowers on them.

In the Church porch the Catering cupboard is now finished and if you come along to visit our beautiful Church, we will now be able to offer you a spontaneous cup of coffee and biscuits, providing one of our committee team is around; and certainly on every Friday morning (10-12) when we weed the church garden with anybody who would like to help. (no equipment or prior knowledge needed!) The wildlife + birdsong is also incredible and can cheer up anybody!

I have been asked for more joining folders and am very happy to see that our committee team’s work has brought new members to “The Friends”. Please visit our website for a form, or send me a short mail with your address and I will post it to you.

Liz Morris, our new Hon. Secretary, is a lady with lots of talents and has managed to clean 400 years off the parquet floor of half of the Church already. It's wonderful to see our Church looking so clean!

Finally, I would like to remind you to come to our musical garden tea party on 9th May, and our Tapas Quiz evening with Quentin Letts as Quiz master on 9th October. Details on our website.
