Why do we have a 'Friends of How Caple Church'(FHCC) and what is its purpose,?

Sadly, here in How Caple we don't have a central meeting point.

No Pub

No Shop

No Village Hall

Not even a neighbourhood watch!  We are all spread out, but we do however have a Church we can use as a focal point, both for us locals as well as the wider community.

You don't have to be a 'church goer', some of us aren't, but it doesn't stop us enjoying the community spirit by fundraising, socialising and supporting this group.  We all love beautiful things.                                          

Some spend free time nurturing our lovely church garden and buildings, which I'm sure most of us like to show off to our visiting family and friends, as it's such a lovely location.

For others it's helping clean the church, doing the flowers, running/attending the choir…

We also try to provide a caring/supportive roll to our younger members of the area by running a monthly playgroup,'Ziggysaurus,' where refreshment and often homemade cake is provided at no cost.

A monthly coffee morning/get together and chat is offered to the community for the adults.

Of course, to provide all this costs money, so we are always trying to find ways to be able to raise funds in order to offer a better, friendly service to our community. Our recent Curry/quiz evening was enjoyed by many, a good fundraising event and helped the 'kitty'.

So how can we make our community more inclusive and neighbourly?

Well, you can join us and register your commitment by becoming a paid up member of the FHCC. it's only from a 'fiver' a year, not much more than a cup of coffee.

You will be notified of all forthcoming events and have your say in contributing new ideas for social events and fundraising, which will be welcomed.

Your subscription fees help towards our running costs for the group, supplying tools/plants for the garden, buying a gazebo for an afternoon tea party, repairing church stone walling etc. The shopping list is endless, but every penny counts!! However, if you wish to support the funding to help with the ever increasing costs in maintaining the fabric of the building any donations of monies is greatly appreciated.

Into the bargain, maybe you'll get to meet that unknown neighbour, become acquainted and increase your circle of friends
